Obs!:  Post processing limited to cropping and contrast in some examples, no manipulation was used. The darkening on the edges is an inner function of my (Sony @85) camera called Toy and is not post processing. Several different lenses were used.

Some examples fulfill more than one criteria, this will be addressed in description overhead.

Camera: Sony Alpha58,

Lenses:

Sigma Dg 70-300mm 1:4-5.6

Sigma DC 50-200mm 1:4-5.6 hsm

Sony  DT SAM II 18-55 3.5-5.6

Flash:

External: Metz 44 AF-1 digital

Specs are as follows: F.stop, Exposure time, ISO speed, Focal length, 35mm focal length.

                                        Curves/Lines 2 examples

Example 1: BIRD:  f/5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO-1600, +1 step, 300mm, 450. Tropical bird at a museum, was exceedingly far away and hiding but I had an amazing Sigma telescopic lens that did the job. A beautiful marriage of the curves of the bird juxtaposed against the tree branch.

Example 2: ROPE: f/5.6, 1/1000 sec, ISO-200, +0.3 step, 200mm, 300.

A ramshackle bridge in the middle of a wood near my home. The rough texture of the knot and the curve of the rope contrasts nicely against the erect wood posts.

Depth – Foreground, Mid and Back

Example 1: FROG: f/5.6, 1/100, ISO-3200, -0.3 step, 300mm, 450.

A frog from a zoo. Him/the dirt in the fore, dried leaves in the mid and green foliage in the back.

Example 2: STUMP: f/5.6, 1/500, ISO-200, +0.3 step, 300mm, 450.

A local stump, gnarled and twisted. It’s end in the fore, it’s roots and grass in the mid and the river in the back.

                                          Drawing with Light/Night picture

Example 1:SPIRAL: f/4, 17 sec, ISO-100, +1.3step, 22mm, 33

Light drawing, used a fire cracker – dangerous and fun.

Example 2:STRAUSS: f/5.6, 26 sec, ISO-100,+1.3 step, 50mm, 75

Outside at night, bust of Strauss illuminated quickly at the begining of the shot, then I moved behind it to draw the treble clef and sad little two beat.

Example 3:MASK: f/5.6, 42 sec, ISO-100,+1.3 step, 55mm, 82

Very long exposure. Dark room, with a mask sitting on top of a wine bottle.  First an LED in white was illuminated in the back of the bottle (green). Then an LED in a newspaper wrapped wine bottle was shined around the edge of the mask (yellow),  a blue LED was slowly trailed around the eyes from the back (Blue) and finally a thumb over the light to create wisps of (Red)

                                                  Golden Mean/Ratio

Example 1:FLOWER: f/5, 1/320 sec, ISO-160, +0.3 step,200mm, 300

Flower from the garden with black paper behind it.

Example 2:MONKEY: f/5.6, 1/25, ISO-3200, -0.3 step, 450

A monkey from the zoofollowing his friend out of frame.

Example 3:GOOSE: f/5.6, 1/640 sec, ISO-100, +0.3 step, 300mm, 450

A group of gluttonous geese and the one proudly maintaining his diet.

                                                            Contrast: Big/Small

Example 1:MOTH: f/5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO-320, +0.3 step, 280 mm, 420

Macro picture of an incredibly small moth magnified to gargantuan proportions, it’s size only given away by the small rocks that surround him.

Example 2:SWANS: f/5.6, 1/1000 sec, ISO-100, +0.3 step, 300mm, 450

A stately congregation of swans, mother and (presumably) father seperated by their ducklings.

Example 1:ESPEN: f/5.6, 1/200, ISO-1600, +0.3 step, 120 mm, 180.

My husband in a backyard photoshoot, while a little high key, the contrast of black and white and fore and background is nice.

Example 1:ME: f/4, 1/5 sec (timer), ISO-3200, -0.3 step, 50mm, 75.

An experimental photo shoot for my school magazine spread, makeup and photo by me. High contrast night shoot with my neighbors bug light for illumination.

                                           Mist/Veil Long exposure/Motion

Example 1:CERBERUS: f/4.5, 58 sec (!), ISO-100,+1.3 step,30mm, 45

Extremely long exposure, black room with only illumination being a small flashlight in a red glass candy bowl that I held over the camera, black backdrop and tripod used. Had my husband hold position one (far right) for around 15 seconds, he slowly turned his head to position 2 (front) and kept that for about 30 then turned to position 3(left) for the same amount of time for position one.
